KSMoCA Artist Mentorship Program

The KSMoCA Artist Mentorship program pairs working artists in the Portland area with K - 5th grade students at MLK Jr. public school in a long term mentorship relationship. Volunteer mentors spend an hour with their mentee each week in an open studio designed to foster, model and support the development of each student’s individual creative practice.

The Artist Mentorship Program program provides the opportunity for young people to learn first-hand what it is like to be an artist while developing their individual artistic voice. Each mentor is paired with a selected student to build a relationship over the course of the school year.

If you'd like to become an artist mentor, you can fill out the application here. We ask volunteers to commit to spending an hour a week with a student during the course of the year (with intermittent breaks). We start new mentorship cohorts periodically and will be in touch once the new cohort is beginning. Those who have questions can contact
